Abraham Verghese

Abraham Verghese is an American physician and author, and a professor of medicine at Stanford Medical School. He is best known for Cutting for Stone, a first novel about twin brothers raised around a mission hospital in Addis Ababa as Ethiopia edges toward revolution, and his other books include the novel Covenant of Water and My Own Country. In 2015 he received the National Humanities Medal from President Barack Obama.
