Aesop was a Greek fabulist and storyteller, dated c. 620 to 564 BCE, and is credited with the fables known as Aesop's Fables. His existence is uncertain and none of his writings survive, but many tales with anthropomorphic animal characters were gathered under his name over the centuries. Books published under the name Aesop include Aesop's Fables and The Complete Fables, both built on those short animal stories.
