Aldous Huxley (1894–1963) was an English writer and philosopher, best known for the dystopian novel Brave New World (1932) and its utopian counterpart, Island (1962). He graduated in English literature from Balliol College, Oxford, and early on wrote satirical novels such as Crome Yellow and Point Counter Point alongside short stories and poetry. Later books like The Perennial Philosophy and The Doors of Perception explore mysticism and his own mescaline experience. He lived in Los Angeles from 1937 until his death.
