Aleister Crowley (1875–1947) was an English occultist, poet, novelist, mountaineer and painter who founded the religion of Thelema. His fiction includes Household Gods, a collection of short stories about the supernatural working its way into everyday domestic life. He also co-wrote The Goetia, a nonfiction work on magic and its history, with Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers, the teacher who trained him in ceremonial magic.
