Alexandra Rowland writes queer fantasy, best known for the Chantiverse series and for coining the word "hopepunk" in a July 2017 Tumblr post as a counterpoint to grimdark. Their debut novel, The Last Queens of Nuryevet, came out with Saga Press in 2017, and they have also written the romance novels Running Close to the Wind and Yield Under Great Persuasion. Rowland co-hosted the podcast Be the Serpent, which was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Fancast four times. They grew up in the Bahamas before moving to Florida and Missouri.
