Alistair MacLean

Alistair MacLean was a Scottish novelist who wrote thrillers and adventure stories, drawing on his years in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. His debut, HMS Ulysses, grew out of his service aboard HMS Royalist, and his books are estimated to have sold over 150 million copies. Several have become films, including The Guns of Navarone, Ice Station Zebra and Where Eagles Dare, which he wrote as a screenplay alongside a novel.
