Allen Ginsberg

Allen Ginsberg (1926–1997) was an American poet and writer, best known for "Howl", whose 1957 obscenity trial drew wide attention and whose judge ruled the poem was not obscene. He was part of the Beat Generation with Jack Kerouac and William S. Burroughs. His books include Howl and Other Poems, The Fall of America, which shared the 1974 National Book Award for Poetry, and Best Minds of My Generation, a set of lectures on the Beat writers.
