Anna Kavan

Anna Kavan is the pen name of the British novelist, short story writer and painter Helen Emily Woods, who adopted it in 1939. She is best known for Ice, published in 1967 a year before her death, and her other books include Asylum Piece, Julia and the Bazooka and Sleep Has His House. Ice moves between magical realism and dystopian fiction, while Asylum Piece leans toward psychological horror.
