Anne Brontë was an English novelist and poet, known for Agnes Grey (1847) and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (1848). The second follows a woman who leaves a troubled marriage, and it is considered one of the first feminist novels. She spent most of her life in Haworth, Yorkshire, as the last of six children of Patrick Brontë, and she died in 1849 aged 29, most likely of pulmonary tuberculosis. Her poems appeared in 1846 alongside those of her sisters Charlotte and Emily.
