Arto Paasilinna was a Finnish writer who began as a journalist and went on to write comic novels, and he died in 2018. He is mostly known for The Year of the Hare, a 1975 novel that was translated into 18 languages and adapted into films in Finland in 1977 and in France in 2006. His other novel here, The Howling Miller, follows a mill restorer whose strange habits get him run out of a village.
