Ayad Akhtar is an American playwright, novelist, and screenwriter whose stage work includes Disgraced, Junk, and The Invisible Hand. His plays cover themes including the American-Muslim experience, racism, religion, economics, immigration, and identity, and he won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. He has also written the novels American Dervish, a coming-of-age story, and Homeland Elegies, a satire that received the American Book Award.
