B. A. Shapiro

B. A. Shapiro is an American author who writes her recent novels under that name, though her earlier books appeared as Barbara Shapiro. Her historical novel The Muralist follows an aspiring artist in 1940s New York, against the Works Progress Administration and the growing crisis in Europe, and later a granddaughter's search into her disappearance. Shapiro has also written The Safe Room, a psychological thriller. Across both, the work moves between art, wartime danger and tense suspense.
