Bapsi Sidhwa

Bapsi Sidhwa was a Pakistani novelist who wrote in English and lived in the United States, best known for Ice Candy Man, a 1991 novel that became the basis for Deepa Mehta's 1998 film Earth. Sidhwa also wrote Water: A Novel, published in 2006, which Mehta's 2005 film Water is based on, and wrote other novels including The Crow Eaters and An American Brat. Sidhwa died on 25 December 2024.
