Bernd Heinrich

Bernd Heinrich is a professor emeritus of biology at the University of Vermont, and he writes about how animals and plants adapt to their surroundings. His books include Mind of the Raven, Winter World, Summer World, and A Year in the Maine Woods, along with more personal reflections such as Racing the Clock, which mixes his experience as a distance runner with observations of animals. His research on insect physiology and behavior, and on bird behavior, shapes much of his writing.
