Bettina L. Love is an American author and academic and the William F. Russell Professor at Teachers College, Columbia University. She has helped bring abolitionist teaching, which she describes as restoring humanity to children in schools, into classrooms. Her nonfiction includes We Want to Do More Than Survive, on the pursuit of educational freedom, and Punished for Dreaming, a set of essays on what it costs children, especially Black children, to imagine a better world. Love also argues for eliminating standardized testing.
