Carl Zimmer is an American popular science writer whose work centers on evolution, parasites, and heredity. He writes science essays for The New York Times, Discover, and National Geographic, and is a fellow at Yale's Morse College as well as an adjunct professor of molecular biophysics and biochemistry there. His books include Parasite Rex, A Planet of Viruses, Microcosm, and Evolution: The Triumph of an Idea, the companion to the PBS series. Zimmer was born in 1966.
