Carolyn Huynh's novels are contemporary fiction with a coming-of-age streak. Family Recipe follows a young Vietnamese American woman who sets out to recreate her grandmother's dishes and ends up digging into her family's past, with food and memory at the center. The Fortunes of Jaded Women turns to magical realism, again with growing up at its heart.
