Cesare Pavese

Cesare Pavese was an Italian novelist, poet, short story writer, translator, and literary critic, often regarded as one of the most influential Italian writers of his time. His fiction includes The House on the Hill, a coming-of-age novel about a young man's search for belonging, and The Devil in the Hills. Involved with antifascist circles in Turin and later a member of the Italian Communist Party, he died by suicide in 1950.
