Chinelo Okparanta

Chinelo Okparanta is a Nigerian-American novelist and short story writer, known for the short story collection Happiness, Like Water and for Under the Udala Trees. Born in 1981, she was raised in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, until age 10, when she moved with her family to the United States. She grew up as a Jehovah's Witness, and in 2012 she was named one of Granta's New Voices.
