Chingiz Aĭtmatov

Chingiz Aĭtmatov's books are works of fiction that move between literary writing and science fiction. The Day Lasts More Than a Hundred Years follows a railway signalman on the Kazakh steppe as he travels to bury a close friend, while a parallel thread follows two cosmonauts on a space mission. The novel mixes personal memory, old legends and speculative storytelling. The White Ship is another work of fiction on the shelf.
