Cora Sandel

Cora Sandel is the pen name of Norwegian writer and painter Sara Cecilia Görvell Fabricius, who lived from 1880 to 1974. She spent most of her adult life abroad, and her best-known books are the Alberta Trilogy: Alberta Alone, Alberta and Freedom, and Alberta and Jacob. The novels follow a woman named Alberta through a household strained by duty and her growing need for selfhood. In 1961 the Norwegian philosopher Harald Ofstad nominated her for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
