Cristina Rivera Garza is a Mexican author and professor known for her fiction and memoir, and she was born in Tamaulipas near the Mexico–U.S. border in 1964. Her novel Nadie me verá llorar (No One Will See Me Cry) brought her some of Mexico's highest literary honors, and her memoir Liliana's Invincible Summer, about her sister's 1990 murder, won the Pulitzer Prize for Memoir or Autobiography. Her collection Grieving gathers crónicas, journalism and personal essays on violence and mourning in Mexico and across the border.
