She has also written children's fiction and poetry, with titles including Five Days in Paris, Fine Things, Jewels, and Accident, a historical novel about a woman who becomes a pilot before World War II. Based in California for most of her career, she has published several books a year and founded the Nick Traina foundation in honor of her son, funding mental-illness organizations.
