Dave Eggers is an American writer, editor, and publisher, born March 12, 1970, who writes fiction, nonfiction, and children's books. He is best known for his 2000 memoir, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction. His fiction includes The Circle and What Is the What, and his nonfiction includes Zeitoun and The Monk of Mokha. He also founded the literary journal Timothy McSweeney's Quarterly Concern, the literacy project 826 Valencia, and ScholarMatch.
