David Deutsch is a British physicist at the University of Oxford, born in 1953, who is often described as the father of quantum computing. He formulated a description of a quantum Turing machine and specified an algorithm meant to run on a quantum computer, and he is a proponent of the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics. His books include The Fabric of Reality, which explores parallel universes and what they imply, and The Beginning of Infinity, a look at how knowledge drives progress across science, philosophy and society.
