David Foster Wallace was an American writer of novels, short stories, and essays who also taught English and creative writing, best known for Infinite Jest (1996), a long novel partly set at a tennis academy. His short fiction was collected in Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, and his essays in Consider the Lobster. He also wrote Everything and More, a history of infinity in set theory, before his death in 2008.
