David James Duncan is an American novelist and essayist, best known for The River Why (1983), an adventure novel, and The Brothers K (1992), a coming-of-age novel. Both books won the Pacific Northwest Booksellers award, and The Brothers K was a New York Times Notable Book in 1992. His third novel, Sun House, came out from Little, Brown and Company in August 2023.
