David Joy

David Joy is an American fiction writer whose short stories and novels explore nature, addiction, and the human condition, drawing on North Carolina, the state where he was raised near Charlotte. He studied at Western Carolina University with the poet and fiction writer Ron Rash. His books include The Line That Held Us, which follows two lifelong friends whose lives come apart after a hunting accident, and When These Mountains Burn.
