Deborah Levy is a South African novelist, playwright and poet who began in the theatre, with plays staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company, before turning to prose. Her early novels include Beautiful Mutants, Swallowing Geography and Billy & Girl, and Swimming Home and Hot Milk were both shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Levy's later work also includes The Man Who Saw Everything, longlisted for the Booker, the short-story collection Black Vodka, and the novel August Blue.
