Dick Gregory

Dick Gregory was an American comedian, actor, writer and social critic whose no-holds-barred sets won him a following in African-American communities across the southern United States. In the 1960s he protested the Vietnam War and racial injustice, and he was arrested several times and went on many hunger strikes. Later he worked as a speaker and author, and his autobiography sold more than a million copies. His books included Defining Moments in Black History: Reading Between the Lies and No More Lies.
