Dinaw Mengestu is an Ethiopian American novelist whose books include The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears and How to Read the Air, part of a body of four novels. He has also written reportage for Rolling Stone on the war in Darfur and for Jane Magazine on the conflict in northern Uganda, with work in Harper's Magazine and The Wall Street Journal. He is Program Director of Written Arts at Bard College, was named a 5 under 35 honoree by the National Book Foundation in 2007, and was selected as a MacArthur Fellow in 2012.
