Doug Mahnke's art appears in Batman graphic novels, detective stories with a noir edge. Batman Under the Red Hood, with Judd Winick, follows a violent new vigilante who takes on Gotham's criminals and Batman himself, and raises hard questions about justice. Batman: The Man Who Laughs, with Ed Brubaker, is a Batman mystery in the same detective-driven vein.
