Ellen Lupton is a graphic designer, curator, writer, and educator whose books include D.I.Y. Design It Yourself and Indie Publishing: How to Design and Produce Your Own Book. She spent 30 years at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York, serving as Senior Curator of Contemporary Design before becoming Curator Emerita, and she founded the Graphic Design M.F.A. program at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where she now holds the Betty Cooke and William O. Steinmetz Design Chair. Her writing on design has appeared in Print, Eye, I.D., Metropolis, and The New York Times.
