Fernanda Melchor is a Mexican writer born in 1982 in Veracruz, whose work spans novels, chronicles, essays and television writing. She is best known for Hurricane Season (2017), a novel set in a Mexican village, and for Páradais (2021). Her earlier books Falsa liebre and Aquí no es Miami both appeared in 2013. Melchor won the Anna Seghers Prize in 2019 and was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize in 2020.
