Frank Norris

Frank Norris was an American journalist and novelist of the Progressive Era, writing mostly in the naturalist style. He is best known for McTeague (1899), the story of a San Francisco dentist whose life comes apart after a lottery win, and for The Octopus: A Story of California (1901), the first book in the Epic of the Wheat series. Norris's novel The Pit followed in 1903, the year after Norris died.
