Gayle Tzemach Lemmon is an American author who writes on the role of women and girls in foreign policy. She is known for The Dressmaker of Khair Khana, the story of five sisters in Afghanistan and the dressmaker who protected them, and for Ashley's War, a narrative account of the women who served alongside U.S. Army Rangers and Special Forces in Afghanistan. She also wrote The Daughters of Kobani, and she is an adjunct senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations.
