George Plimpton was an American writer best known for his sports writing and his participatory journalism, in which he took part in the events he reported on. He helped found The Paris Review, and was its first and only editor, from 1953. His books include Paper Lion, Out of My League, Shadow Box, and the satire The Curious Case of Sidd Finch, along with the Truman Capote biography. Born in 1927, he died in 2003.
