Gerald Murnane

Gerald Murnane is an Australian novelist, short story writer, poet and essayist, best known for The Plains, a 1982 novel. Murnane's fiction often blurs the line between invention and autobiography, with a steady interest in memory, perception, identity and the Australian landscape. Other books include Inland and Barley Patch. The New York Times described Murnane in 2018 as the greatest living English-language writer most people have never heard of.
