Gilbert Sorrentino

Gilbert Sorrentino (1929–2006) was an American novelist, poet, short story writer, literary critic, professor and editor. Across more than twenty-five works of fiction and poetry he played with the comic possibilities of language and literature, and he is known for his ear for American speech and for the places of his native Brooklyn. His fiction includes Aberration of Starlight, a satire set over a hot summer in a 1939 New Jersey boardinghouse, and Mulligan Stew.
