Grace Paley (1922 to 2007) was an American short story writer, poet, and teacher whose fiction follows the everyday conflicts and heartbreaks of city life, often drawing on her Bronx childhood. Her titles include The Little Disturbances of Man and Enormous Changes at the Last Minute, and her three story collections were compiled in The Collected Stories, a finalist for both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award. Outside her writing, she was a feminist and anti-war activist who described herself as a somewhat combative pacifist and cooperative anarchist.
