Graeme Macrae Burnet is a Scottish writer of literary crime novels, often built around a metafictional frame. His first novel, The Disappearance of Adèle Bedeau, won the Scottish Book Trust New Writer Award in 2013, and His Bloody Project, a historical crime novel, won the Saltire Society Fiction Book of the Year Award and was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize. Case Study was longlisted for the Booker, and his psychological novel Benbecula, set on a remote island and drawing on a true nineteenth-century case, was shortlisted for the Walter Scott Prize in 2026.
