Henryk Sienkiewicz (1846–1916) was a Polish writer of historical novels, best known in Poland for the Trilogy, set in the 17th-century Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, which includes With Fire and Sword, The Deluge and Sir Michael. Abroad he is remembered for Quo Vadis, set in Nero's Rome, and his 1905 Nobel Prize in Literature honoured his outstanding merits as an epic writer. He also wrote under the pseudonym Litwos, and his other books include Janko Muzykant and Latarnik.
