Homer

Homer is the ancient Greek poet traditionally credited with the Iliad and the Odyssey, two epics that are foundational works of Greek literature. The Iliad follows a quarrel between King Agamemnon and the warrior Achilles in the last year of the Trojan War, while the Odyssey traces Odysseus, king of Ithaca, on his ten-year voyage home after Troy falls. Scholars still debate who Homer was, and most now regard the two poems as the work of separate authors, thought to have been composed around the late eighth or early seventh century BC.
