Istvan Banyai was a Hungarian illustrator and animator, born in 1949 and died in 2022. He is best known for Zoom and Re-Zoom, two picture books that move through a chain of scenes, with each page widening the view to show how small details sit inside larger ones. Banyai's books lean on pictures more than words, so the reader works out the connections by looking closely.
