Ivan Klima's books are mostly literary fiction, with a strong thread of love stories and psychological drama. A Summer Affair follows a Prague biologist whose orderly life is overturned by sudden infatuation, and Lovers for a Day and The Ultimate Intimacy stay with romance. Judge on Trial moves into legal and psychological suspense, Love and Garbage leans toward satire, and My Golden Trades is a nonfiction title.
