James Ellroy

James Ellroy is an American crime fiction writer and essayist, born in 1948. He is best known for the L.A. Quartet, which begins with The Black Dahlia and continues through The Big Nowhere, L.A. Confidential and White Jazz, and for the Underworld USA trilogy that opens with American Tabloid. His recent work uses a clipped, telegrammatic style that drops connecting words, as in The Cold Six Thousand and Blood's a Rover.
