Jeanne DuPrau

Jeanne DuPrau is an American author born in 1944, best known for The Books of Ember, a series of science fiction novels for young people. The series opens with The City of Ember, about an underground city whose great lamps are beginning to fail, and continues through The People of Sparks, The Prophet of Yonwood and The Diamond of Darkhold. DuPrau's books lean toward dystopian and coming-of-age adventure, with the four volumes sharing one world.
