Jennifer K. Mann's books are contemporary fiction, including I Will Never Get a Star on Mrs. Benson's Blackboard, a classroom story about Rose, who longs to earn a star but keeps stumbling over spelling and tidy handwriting. It is a gentle look at embarrassment, persistence, and how much a little encouragement can matter. The Camping Trip is also contemporary fiction.
