Jens Peter Jacobsen

Jens Peter Jacobsen was a Danish novelist, poet and scientist, often written in Denmark as J. P. Jacobsen. He began the naturalist movement in Danish literature and was part of the Modern Breakthrough. He was best known for Marie Grubbe, a novel about a 17th-century woman whose passionate nature clashed with the rigid social rules of her time, and for Niels Lyhne.
