Jerome K. Jerome was an English writer and humorist, best known for the comic travelogue Three Men in a Boat (1889). He also wrote the essay collection Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow (1886), its follow-up Second Thoughts of an Idle Fellow, and Three Men on the Bummel, a sequel to his best-known book, along with several novels. Critics who had looked down on his lighter style eventually came round to praising his semi-autobiographical novel Paul Kelver (1902).
